"Mrs. Rita Shvets combines the two great cultures of the piano skills, i.e. Russian and American; Leonard Bernstein and Valentin Silvestrov. Mrs. Shvets talent or gift of teaching has no comparison." — Ewgeney Koifman, Professor, History of musical culture, Ethnography, Moscow

The Rhythm of Learning is aimed at parents and grandparents with school age children to understand the power of music in early childhood education. It is also a great reference for investors, Montessori and music teachers who would like to implement the program in their daily activities.

The Benefits of Music and Movement: I was amazed to find that 88% of all post-graduate students in college and 83% of all people earning $150,000 or more had extensive music training.

Daycare versus Montessori Preschool: Here you learn about the length of classes, teaching and learning styles, tuition and much more.

Margarita’s Journey: From Moscow to America and from teacher to Owner, Margarita seems to have been destined to be a Montessori music pioneer.

The Effectiveness of Music: Here are just a few examples of the effectiveness of music training … Early musical training helps develop brain areas involved in language and reasoning. Students of the arts learn to think creatively and to solve problems. Music study enhances teamwork skills and discipline. It develops skills that are necessary in the workplace. Music performance also teaches young people to conquer fear and to take risks.

The Montessori Approach to Music: What does the Montessori approach teach and provide? That with the right experiences, all children can sing and carry a tune, all children can train their ears, all children can learn to read and write music. In other words, all children can participate in one of the basicexpressions of what it means to be human, in the language of music.

Why Every Day? Quite simply, repetition is the basis of music learning, just as it is in any other language. A simple drop of water repeated over time can wear away stone. So, too, can daily music lessons instill in children the basic elements that form the foundation for success.

The Earlier the Better! Young children are like dry sponges. When you drop them in water they expand dramatically. So just as the child moves before he walks, so can the child sing before she talks. It’s amazing to watch!

The Steps to Joyful Learning: The joyful experience that can be music starts with the parents. If they are positive in their talk and actions regarding the daily music classes, then it is much easier for the child to relax and develop a “home” at school.

Spring, Sing. Winter Holiday Concert! Many schools, Montessori or otherwise have just one, annual concert. However, Margarita believes in celebrating the seasons with song and music that can be shared with the parents. From Halloween to Thanksgiving to Christmas and Spring, the children fall in love with the different songs of the seasons and can’t wait to perform on stage (They don’t know that they should be shy or frightened; it’s just something that’s fun to do.)

Music at Home: The greatest thing for a parent who is attuned to the child is the impromptu concert that he or she will experience at home. Creating access to drums, a xylophone or even an inexpensive electronic keyboard will school, it is for life!
